This morning, today’s forecast looked just a little bit better than it did yesterday so we decided to go for it. We were shocked to no one else in the anchorage was living, but then thought maybe they were going to catch up with us. Nope! Cruised out in the dark, but we had the lights from houses and everything around us. The ocean was practically dead calm, it was amazing. But there was no moon so it was very dark and once we left the lights of the shoreline behind us it was pitch black which was very freaky (without AIS). I mostly tried to distract myself from thinking about being out there alone and certainly didn't check the depths. It was a pretty beautiful day with not much wave of action until we could see West End, at which point of the waves really picked up, probably had four footers and the occasional six footer roller, which would've been terrifying had it happened any earlier in the day. But the boat could handle it and it didn't really make us physically uncomfortable.

We were low-key delirious when I got into West End, so proud of ourselves and excited that we had done it. Other new arrivals were feeling the same. We checked in at customs and immigration only after grabbing a Kalik at the nextdoor bar. Got a conch salad and had a couple drinks with Maureen and Bob from S/V Hannah who had just crossed also. Met Bob and Debbie from Rosalita (Bob was a big help online) and went to dinner with themas well as Michelle and Richard from ME-shell. After dinner, Andrew went and had a drink with Tony and I went to bed. Lots of noise late at night and overnight due to New Year's Eve.
