Shortly after leaving Georgetown the scenery changed dramatically, from lowlands with nothing but golden grass to rivers lined with green live oak and cypress trees with Spanish moss. Really beautiful. Stopped for fuel (“cheapest on the East Coast” at something like $3.12 for diesel).

This area feels much more like a freshwater river than the briny ICW and swamps we’ve experienced til now. Got in the dinghy and went into a tributary were almost immediately we heard a loud SPLAT that had to be an alligator right behind us. Yikes. Beautiful stunning gunkholing and lots of birdsong.
