Left Manteo around 7:30-8:00. Not a great day to be on the Albemarle with waves on our beam seemingly no matter what direction we headed (Andrew tacked our way across). Wasn't terrible but easy or pleasant to move about the boat. Andrew felt a little queasy but I was okay. Long day (got in around 4:00pm) and the wind picked up quite a bit as we docked bow-in at the very short finger pier on the Elizabeth City wall. It wasn't pretty at all but a couple folks helped and we got it figured out.

Barry the 'rose buddy' came by and gave us info about the town, etc. Had drinks at Hoppin Johnz (great mojito) and dinner at Bistro burgers—just okay.

On Saturday we had breakfast at the Colonial, a cheap diner with great biscuits. I took a pass on the moldy shower curtain provided in the town dock bathrooms and showered on boat—with lukewarm water because we weren’t plugged in to power. Andrew took a bike ride and I tried to wash windows and chill but was interrupted by several friendly (and chatty) folks. One guy has boated, visited 56 countries, and is planning to motorcycle around the world.

Adam from ADA had stopped by invited us to dinner. Went to the Italian place with him and Kristie; Kathleen & Michael on Apres Ski; and Alex on Friendship (from Montreal).

Sunday was rainy after a very bouncy night due to whatever kind of surge they get here from south winds—which we had been warned about via WWG but didn't move. (In hindsight, we should have moved to a marina.) Our aft cockpit cover came loose and the teak thingy broke due to high winds, so Andrew rode his bike to Lowe’s (in the rain) for the wood to fix it. The rain let up a bit although it was still chilly when we went to the local brewery with Eddie and Karen from Winsor Rose. Nice couple, just started Loop in Florida.
